Frequently asked questions

  • Yes, the knives are made by Jo Murphy and partner Dylan, lovingly by hand in Albury on Wiradjuri land. We try and source Australian materials and use everything we can to limit waste. We make Kitchen knives that are for life to stop the waste cycle.

  • We can work with you to create the knife that will enhance your culinary experience. We also have some unique knives for sale in our online shop.

  • Most cooks like a Chef's Knife or the smaller Santoku plus a smaller paring knife. It can vary based on the type of food each person prepares. Contact us to discuss what suits your needs.

  • Pure iron is too soft to use as a knife, I use high grade steel with a high carbon content so the blade can be heat treated (hardened). This means the kitchen knife edge is retained for longer.

  • This is a personal preference; stainless steel is resistant to patina with the addition of Chromium. A steel knife will patina because of the foods cut with it slowly evolving its life character on the blade.

  • We only provide a local knife sharpening service for the knives we have made.

  • A magnetic knife rack is the best way to store your beautiful knife. It provides easy access for the cook. Why not show off your custom piece!
